Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: FAQs before your first session

Starting mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy? Here are the questions people ask most before their first session.

Is it claustrophobic inside the chamber?

Not at all. Hard chambers have three clear viewing panels, space to move and you can exit at any time. You have an internal intercom to anyone outside the chamber as well as an emergency release valve. They are designed for comfort and safety.

What does it actually feel like?

The pressure change feels similar to what you'd notice during a flight or a mild dive, a slight fullness in the ears that resolves easily. Most people read, close their eyes, or simply relax during the session. Jason Gilbert, our Medical Director explains this further here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJVH5hNZF88

How many sessions will I need before I notice anything?

Some people feel more relaxed or clearer, experience better sleep, more energy or reduced pain after a single 60-90 minute session. However, consistency is where results build as long term benefits come from consistent use. Think of it as a routine, similar to training or sleep, rather than a one-off treatment. People often report they need 40-60 sessions. We recommend 1-2 sessions 6 days a week. Cellregen provides customised protocols from our medical director, Jason Gilbert.

Can I bring my phone or read during the session?

While the risk is considered very low, the manufacturers of our hyperbaric chambers do not recommend the use of mobile phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, power banks, or other battery-powered electronic devices inside the chamber during operation. If you choose to bring an electronic device into the chamber, you do so at your own discretion and accept full responsibility for any associated risks or damage to your device. Cellregen accepts no liability for loss or damage to personal electronic items brought into the chamber.

Books, magazines, journals, and other non-electronic reading materials are welcome and are a great way to relax during your session.

Are there any conditions where I shouldn't do this?

Certain conditions require medical clearance before starting. If you have any pre-existing health concerns, check with a qualified health professional before your first session. Jason Gilbert, speaks further on this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se0pETXHtAY

What should I do before my session?

  • Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing

  • Ensure you are well-hydrated before and after your session. Oxygen processes in the body require water.

  • Avoid wearing lotions, perfumes, or hairsprays inside the chamber, as the environment is oxygen-rich.

  • Avoid alcohol or recreational drugs at least 12 hours before your session.
